The National Council for Workforce Education (NCWE) provides timely information and tips to advocate for workforce education. NCWE supports policies that lead to greater investment in workforce education and training, ensuring that businesses succeed and that all learners possess the skills to achieve family-wage, middle-skill jobs.
NCWE is an affiliate council of the American Association of Community Colleges (AACC), and only takes positions that align with AACC’s. Click to learn more about AACC’s advocacy efforts.

NCWE’s current priorities are:
- Reauthorization of the Higher Education Act
- Reauthorization of the Perkins Career and Technical Education Act
- Pell Grant accessibility, including year-round Pell, short-term Pell, and ability to benefit, and
- Funding for the workforce development system.
The Member Resources section of the NCWE website has additional policy-related information. NCWE has summarized and provided links to several workforce education reports and NCWE publications that cover a wide variety of policy topics such as the college completion agenda and competency-based education. Also, NCWE members have submitted promising practices, many of which began with assistance from special state or federal funding, or because of legislative mandates.
