PRE-CONFERENCE WORKSHOP
Monday October 7, 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm
Implicit Bias
Attendees, working in groups, will participate in a Racial Impact Assessment exercise led by Dr. Cameron Wedding. The Racial Impact Assessment will explore discrepancies in the interpretation and application of policies, practices and laws at individual decision-points (agency, statewide, or county). This assignment will give workshop participants as a class, the opportunity to identify and discuss the racial impact of policies at key decision points and strategies that can reduce race and ethnic disparities. Attendees will receive a resource guide, and other materials to help inform work at their respective institutions.

POST-CONFERENCE WORKSHOP
Thursday October 10, 8:00 am - 12:00 pm
Becoming a 21st Century Leader
Now is the time to prepare for the coming reality of 2030. We need to be developing the revolutionaries of the future! There will still be leadership roles, but they will require a different set of skills and abilities. Learn how to develop the skills that will make you relevant today and in the future. Don’t sit back and wait - choose instead to develop the skills of 21st Century Leadership! By the end of the workshop, attendees will learn: the factors that are driving the 2030 wave; the impact of automation and AI on both education and the workplace; and Strategies for developing the leadership skills of the 21st Century.

TRIO Electric Pre-Apprenticeship Program

In 2017, Houston Community College, Spring Branch ISD, and TRIO Electric formed a three-way partnership to offer an industry-led, pre-apprenticeship, dual credit, electrical technician training program to high school students. The TRIO Pre-Apprenticeship Program (TPAP) gives students the opportunity to learn valuable skills in a high demand, high wage field before graduation….

Clark State Community College, TX
Clark State Workforce Development ISO 9001

The Clark State Workforce Development ISO 9001 program launched in 2017 and has served around 50 companies. This has resulted in 1,500 jobs, either through layoff aversion or new positions created, and will have an estimated $302 million economic impact on the local economy over the next 5 years. Without the ISO 9001 certification, many local companies would have gone out of business, and others would not have had the growth they are now seeing.….
