Dr. Holly Moore
Dr. Holly Moore is a nationally recognized educational leader and speaker. She has designed innovative apprentice, veterans and disengaged youth programs that incorporate competency based learning, prior learning assessments and distance learning techniques. Her Doctorate is in Educational Leadership and Masters is in Special Education.
Dr. Moore has been advocating for “apprenticeship to degree” programs for the past 12 years. Recently, Dr. Moore, developed a pilot program for braiding funding from multiple sources to establish a pre-apprenticeship model, recognized by the Washington State Apprenticeship Training Council (WSATC), for out of school youth and another for hard to serve unemployed adults in 4 different sectors. Both programs have proven highly successful and have received national attention.
Currently, Dr. Moore is the Executive Dean of the Georgetown Campus of South Seattle College which houses the largest Apprenticeship Training Center in the Northwest. In that capacity, she has worked tirelessly for authenticating the learning in these programs and translating them into academic credit that will lead to degrees and certificates. Dr. Moore has also worked with veterans transitioning into apprenticeships and to translate the Joint Services Transcript (JST) into college credits for associate and bachelor degree programs
As the academic leader for all of the applied Bachelor degree programs at South Seattle College, Dr. Moore has designed several new degrees based on industry demand data. These degree programs have been designed as a pathway for journey level workers to expand their knowledge and skill set to advance in their jobs. She has also developed international partnerships to support these degrees in China, Japan and Australia.
