JAMES JACOBS SCHOLARSHIP AWARD
Analyzing Apprenticeship Degree Models and Their Role in Promoting Associate Degree Completion

University of Maryland, Baltimore County

Many community colleges offer associate degrees based on apprenticeship coursework, at the request of industry and governmental partners. However, most apprenticeship graduates do not pursue a degree, suggesting that they do not perceive sufficient returns on the additional educational investment. Through a multiple regression study, using Washington State panel data, Beth will analyze how apprenticeship degree program structure influences degree completion for apprenticeship graduates.

The College received significant grant funding to increase enrollment for underserved populations in East Tampa.
