Program Realignment

Through program realignment and the removal of traditional silos, colleges develop clear pathways from adult education programs (ABE, ESOL, GED, etc.) to postsecondary workforce education. Strategies to remove barriers that impede movement from entry-level to advancement include:

  • building bridges between basic education and professional-technical workforce programs;
  • and, developing internal articulation between non-credit and/or non-matriculating credit to credit.

Mott Community College
To address the gaps between academic remediation, workforce training, and college-level coursework, the college created articulation agreements between non-credit and credit programs. Created career roadmaps in high demand industries and created Operation Fast Break, an intensive eight-week program to prepare students for employment or postsecondary education.
