Program Description:
Tidewater Community College’s Job Skills Training Program (JSTP) is one of the most successful workforce development programs in the nation. The National Alliance of Community & Technical Colleges selected the Job Skills Training Program as a national Program of Distinction in 2008. The program was the first recipient of the Virginia Community College’s System Workforce Development Award for Excellence and also received Bank of America’s Catalyst Award. The renowned JSTP has been awarded grants from the Verizon Foundation, Wachovia Wells Fargo Foundation and the Commonwealth of Virginia Department of Social Services. With the help of businesses, industry leaders, and social and community service agencies, the JSTP program has trained individuals for employment in healthcare, banking & call centers, manufacturing, construction, automotive and culinary arts industries.
Upon graduation from JSTP, students have taken responsibility and gained insight for their life choices. This holistic and comprehensive program empowers clients to confront their barriers to success and achieve self-sufficiency.
Program Outcomes:
JSTP has a proven track record of excellent results and success. This successful program has served over 1,000 students with a 93% employment rate.
